About the Lotus Project
Supporting Mother's with Education and Occupation-Based Interventions to Support Whole Person Wellness

Reframing Motherhood & the Body
Society often pushes mothers to live up to an “intensive motherhood” ideal rooted in expectations of high productivity and perfection. These pressures can overwhelm new mothers and impact their confidence in parenting-related tasks.
In this module, we invite you to pause, reflect, and begin reframing common messages about what it means to be a “good” mother. Through the lens of matrescence, motherhood is understood as a developmental transition that requires time, adaptation, and support.
This module will introduce the Lotus Project and explore how physical recovery, rest, and daily routines may influence maternal well-being and participation in meaningful mother–infant interactions.

The Mind
Motherhood is a deeply personal transition that is shaped not only by physical recovery, but also by emotional well-being and psychological adaptation. Changes in mood, identity, stress levels, and confidence can influence how mothers engage in daily routines and interact with their infants.
This module will explore common emotional and psychological barriers that may arise throughout the transition into motherhood and introduce supportive strategies to promote mental well-being, occupational balance, and confidence in caregiving roles.

The People
The transition into motherhood does not occur in isolation. Social roles, relationships, and support systems can play a significant role in shaping maternal well-being and participation in daily routines.
This module will explore how social supports, role expectations, and access to resources may influence the experience of matrescence. Strategies to promote connection, co-regulation, and participation in meaningful family and community interactions will also be discussed.
